Alabama, Like Oregon & Florida State, Looked Great in This Weekend’s Win

Sure, the upsets seemed to cool down this weekend, but changes all around in the top 25 just the same. As much as we all seem settled in these teams playing in the season’s top postseason games, we also can’t forget the fact that November also usually sees some seismic shifts. Missouri (and others) will tell you that one loss alters the course of a season, so given that, we’ll obviously keep watching to see what happens next.

Upset Saturday impacted nearly every conference in the country and completed rattled the rankings as we knew them. And now with the National Championship chase in full swing, each and every contest going forward will be under the microscope as we try and figure out the top two teams (for the last time).

Finally, a real college football weekend! Upsets all over the place this past Saturday, and as a result, we’ve seen a fairly radical shake-up in the rankings. Plenty of season still left to go of course, but the wheels are finally moving toward figuring out who are the best teams in the country.

This weekend was supposed to shake things up. Instead, things are pretty similar to what they were about seven days ago. A few top teams got very close to upsets, but again, everything’s largely as it was around the top 10 or so.

Finally, real games were played this weekend, and we’re already seeing some of the effects in the polls. Conference and national title contenders are trying to separate themselves from the pack, and over the next month, we’ll see who’s for real and who isn’t. This was a tough weekend of football for most fans to watch, though the large majority of the top 25 teams won in blowout fashion. You’ll notice the minimal shifts below as a result, but that all changes next week. As conference play starts up in earnest, there will be plenty of shake-ups in the rankings. So for many programs, enjoy your time at the top while you can.

Alabama Stays at Number One This Week, After Outlasting a Tough Texas A&M Squad

No enormous shake-ups this week in a mostly lackluster slate of games. And even the country’s most competitive contest (‘Bama/A&M) still tells us very little about which of those teams is truly “better.” If anything, most of the movement after week 3 happened near the bottom or completely outside of the polls, which is where you’ll see the most shifting around.
