The ACC has announced the list of football student-athlete attendees for the ACC Football Kickoff today. A fancy way of saying “Media Days,” the event will take place on July 21 and 22 at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. Each schools’ coaches will be in attendance, as will two representatives per team.

The list:

Boston College: QB Chase Rettig (Sr.), LB Steele Divitto (Sr.)

Clemson: QB Tajh Boyd (Sr.), LB Spencer Shuey (Sr.)

Duke: QB Anthony Boone (Jr.), CB Ross Cockrell (Sr.)

Florida State: WR Rashad Greene (Jr.), CB Lamarcus Joyner (Sr.)

Georgia Tech: OT Will Jackson (Sr.), DE Jeremiah Attoachu (Sr.)

Maryland: QB C.J. Brown (Sr.), CB Dexter McDougle (Sr.)

Miami: QB Stephen Morris (Sr.), DE Shayon Green (Sr.)

North Carolina: QB Bryn Renner (Sr.), DE Kareem Martin (Sr.)

N.C. State: WR Rashard Smith (Sr.), CB Dantae Johnson (Sr.)

Pittsburgh: WR Devin Street (Sr.), DT Aaron Donald (Sr.)

Syracuse: C Macky MacPherson (Sr.), DT Jay Bromley (Sr.)

Virginia: OT Morgan Moses (Sr.), DE Jake Snyder (Sr.)

Virginia Tech: QB Logan Thomas (Sr.), LB Jack Tyler (Sr.)

Wake Forest: WR Michael Campanaro (Sr.), LB Justin Jackson (Sr.)

Some additional thoughts:

  • Two apiece — one offense, one defense — makes sense, though there are definitely a few teams that would’ve been better served by two more prominent players from one side of the ball or the other.
  • You can see the methodology for most of these selections: Seniority, then production, which made for a few “snubs” if we’re really going to call them that.
  • Steele Divitto makes sense for BC, though I’d probably have gone with fellow linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis. Again, just a preference.
  • Despite seniority being a factor, I’m surprised Stephen Morris got the nod over Duke Johnson, and even more shocked C.J. Brown was picked over Stefon Diggs. Johnson and Diggs are two of the conference’s brightest stars. You’d think they’d find a way to get those two to Greensboro.
  • No Sammy Watkins is a bummer as well. So technically, that’s three of the league’s top five players not at the kickoff event? No comment.
  • Picking Michael Campanaro over Tanner Price makes sense for Wake Forest talent-wise, though I think you give the nod to your fourth-year starting QB here.
  • The only reason Macky MacPherson is there for Syracuse is because of who his grandfather is (Hall of Fame SU coach Dick MacPherson). The better choice likely would’ve been running back Jerome Smith, who’s slated to have a huge season. Bringing two linemen just screams “uninteresting” at a media event. No offense to my alma mater, of course.

Your thoughts? Any one else you would’ve added instead of who was actually chosen? Share your ideas below.
