Monday, July 1, 2013

(Ed. Note: It’s here! Expansion day is here, and that means the ACC is officially a 14-team football league with SU and Pitt firmly in the fold. I’ll spend most of my day celebrating. Please feel free to join in the fun)

ACC Welcomes New Members in NYC (Associated Press)

The Atlantic Coast Conference’s plan to expand, revealed in 2010 and modified along the way, has come to fruition. Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Notre Dame became members of the ACC at 12:01 ET Monday, giving the conference 15 members. To celebrate the league’s northern expansion, Commissioner John Swofford, North Carolina basketball coach Roy Williams, Florida State football coach Jimbo Fisher and Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer are among the ACC dignitaries scheduled to be in New York City…

ACC Keeping up the Best it Can (Winston-Salem Journal)

The ACC family will swell to 15 today. No doubt there will be much pageantry in New York as Commissioner John Swofford welcomes Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Notre Dame (for everything but football) into the mix. His chest might stick out so far he’ll pop a few buttons on his shirt. The new additions Swofford has brought in will extend the traditional conference footprint beyond the South…

An Introduction to NunesMagician.com to All Our New ACC Friends (And Duke) (Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician)

Hello, new ACC Brothers, Sisters and Transgendered Siblings! We’re the Syracuse Orange, one third of the new guys in town, along with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (except for one thing) and something called the Pittsburgh Panthers. Sizing Up the ACC: Sammy Watkins-Led Receiver Group Hard to Beat (Orange and White)

Chad Morris came to Clemson riding on the idea of the “smash-mouth” spread. Well…that’s been a gradual process and he instead has made the most of talented receiver options bestowed upon him by recruiting. The last two seasons, the Tiger offense ranks second in the ACC in pass attempts (999) and first in pass impact (302 yards per game – the best by 34 YPG)…

Rolling in the Benjamins: Three Ways Pitt Can Spend Its Increased ACC Revenue (Cardiac Hill)

Like most things in life, conference realignment was centered on one thing: money – cash, dough, coin, moolah, big bucks – whatever you want to call it. Dollars were the driving force behind the reshuffling of the college football map over the past couple years, and the best part about that is our beloved Pitt Panthers are about to come into a whole lot more of them…

Georgia Tech Football: Educating the Uneducated (From the Rumble Seat)

Last fall when 92.9 The Game opened shop with 24-hour sports talk radio in Atlanta, it was a nice change of pace from 680 The Fan — ever the uga homers. They’ve been fantastic to even have Nate on a couple of times to talk Georgia Tech Basketball and Football! I still listen to both (Chuck and Chernoff are hilarious on 680), but this weekend I was listening to 92.9 when something was said by Marc Ryan that I just couldn’t let fly…
