Peterson: Tech “Not Going Anywhere” (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

Georgia Tech president G.P. “Bud” Peterson met reports and rumors about the school leaving the ACC for the Big Ten head on Saturday night. “Not true. Not true,” Peterson said prior to the ACC Championship game. “We’re happy in the ACC. We’re staying.” Internet and radio reports cited unnamed sources or repeated rumors that the school will follow Maryland out of the ACC and to the Big Ten…

Rocco Weary of Uncertainty at Virginia (

In the end, Michael Rocco just got tired of the uncertainty. Platooned for most of the past two seasons, first with David Watford and this year with Phillip Sims, Rocco requested and received a release from Virginia this past Friday. UVa acknowledged Rocco’s departure in a news release Sunday. “The plan is for Michael to be somewhere else for the second semester,” Rocco’s father, Frank, said Sunday…

ACC Bashing Should Stop (ESPN’s ACC Blog)

OK, so let me get this straight. The ACC became the butt of national jokes last week when 6-6 Georgia Tech made the league championship game. Then folks pointed and laughed when said Jackets nearly upset No. 13 Florida State. But over in Indianapolis, a 7-5 Wisconsin team rolled up 70 points on the No. 12 team in the nation in the Big Ten title game and that was, well, cool…

NC State Goes Fishing for a Coach and Ends Up Landing the Big One (Wilmington Star-News)

Rival fans get plenty of mileage out of poking fun at N.C. State for its national championship bass fishing team. It’s almost too easy. On this occasion, the abundance of quality fishing in the Old North State may actually have helped N.C. State hook a big one in its search for a new head football coach. Dave Doeren is an avid angler who has twice in recent years traveled to North Carolina for a little quiet time with a rod, a reel and his three young sons…

Syracuse Football: The Value of the Pinstripe Bowl (Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician)

Patience. It is the quintessential quality that so many sports fans lack. It’s the lack of patience that made so many Syracuse Orange fans begin calling for Doug Marrone’s head this season. It’s the lack of patience that makes so many people forget just how far we’ve come in four years. And I believe it’s that same lack of patience that led quite a few Syracuse fans to feel disappointed by a return to the Pinstripe Bowl this year…

Defense Answers Challenge (Tallahassee Democrat)

Florida State fans had good reason to be concerned about how the Seminoles’ highly-ranked defense would fare against Georgia Tech in Saturday night’s ACC Championship Game. For starters, the Yellow Jackets boast one of the nation’s top rushing offenses. Add in the fact that Seminoles defensive coordinator Mark Stoops announced earlier in the week he was leaving to become head coach at Kentucky…

Beating an SEC Team Would Validate Clemson’s 2012 Success (Orange and White)

Late last Saturday night, the chant broke out in the northwest corner of Memorial Stadium. “SEC! SEC! SEC!” It was the one chant Clemson fans who had packed the stadium for the Tigers’ first night game in over two years didn’t want to hear. South Carolina 27, Clemson 17 was another opportunity for the program’s critics to remind Dabo Swinney and Co. that they hadn’t arrived yet…

    • Thanks. And yeah, I’ve been trying to figure how to best handle that situation. Maryland’s in for another year, so it’s difficult to take them off there just yet, but no point in having both them and Louisville up there at the same time, when they’ll never play in the conference together.
